Trip to Tambaram (Part 2)

“Ow! I’m famished! L” I said to my friend Rohan as we trudged out of Tambaram railway station. There was a huge crowd milling out of the station and we were flowing along with it.
“Yep! Me too! L” agreed Rohan ruefully. “I think my mom has kept some lunch at home. We’ll go and have that. ”
Rohan’s mom was out shopping and he had informed her earlier (1hr back to be exact! :p) that we (Rohan and me) were coming home.
“Hmmm... ok!” I agreed doubtfully. We took an auto from the station and started out for his house.

On the way I suddenly saw a Marrybrown outlet and asked the driver to stop.
“Wanna grab something to eat? ;)” I asked Rohan.
“Sure! My house is close by so we can walk home from here. ” agreed Rohan enthusiastically.
So he paid the auto driver and we made our way to the inviting food outlet. And that was when (for the second time that day! :p) I remembered  that I had run out of cash! Rohan declared that he was broke too. And there was no sign of an ATM nearby.
“Now what?” we said together.
“Hey!” I said suddenly. “I’ve got a few meal passes with me! I think we can use them here.. ”
I looked into my wallet and found what I was looking for! Never in my life had I appreciated the invention of meal coupons more! :p
We congratulated each other for my timely brainwave and made our way into the restaurant. I ordered for two large cokes and large French fries and paid with the coupons. The cashier returned me a rupee change. We ate our ‘lunch’ ravenously with great relish and resumed our journey with our hunger somewhat satiated.
Suddenly a thought struck me.
“Hey you know what?” I told Rohan. “That guy need not have returned me that one rupee change! There is no need to return change if we pay by meal coupon!”
“Hehe! I guess you got your one rupee back which that ticket counter lady jacked from you!” Rohan chuckled and replied.
‘Oh! I guess that could be it!’ I said remembering. Rohan was right! I had indirectly received back my change which I had lost at the ticket counter earlier. That’s the cycle of life I guess. Things always come back to you. As the saying goes-‘As you sow, so shall you reap.’ There’s always a reason behind everything that happens in our lives. It’s just that sometimes it’s difficult to decipher it. It stays concealed from us for a while. But a time does come when everything becomes clear. All we need is patience and understanding.

“Hey dude! I forgot to tell you. I’ve got three dogs at home. I hope you wouldn’t mind!” said Rohan as were walking towards his house.
“What??” I exclaimed! “Couldn’t you have told me that earlier?”
“Sorry! I just forgot! I didn’t know you were an anti-dog person!” Rohan said worriedly.
“Hey! I’m not anti-dog or something! I love puppies!” I said and laughed. “I’d love to see them.”
This cheered him up instantly we carried on ahead chatting nineteen to the dozen.
When we reached Rohan’s house we were greeted by three cute dogs.
“That’s Sasha” said Rohan pointing to an excited doggy that was jumping all over the place. That’s Max” he said pointing towards another doggy with a golden mane. “And this here is Pogo” he said patting a cute little puppy fondly.
The fourth one, sitting in the corner just raised his head lazily and wagged his tail cheerfully.
“That’s Sherry” said Rohan.  “He’s a cross between a German Sheppard and another breed.”
And that’s when I saw the fifth dog lurking in the bushes.
“Hey that’s tippy.  He’s always scared! Never lets anyone touch him.” explained Rohan. “He just comes along whenever he needs food.”
“Oh.... Okie!” I said. I began playing with the cute little Pogo and saw Sasha bounding towards me! It started jumping all around me wagging its tail happily!
“Sasha never lets anyone play with anyone but herself!” explained Rohan. “She’s pretty possessive! :p”

I found this situation mirroring the real life. There are all sorts of people in the world. Some lead their lives courageously in a carefree manner. They are not afraid of anything and face the adversities head on. They do not get bogged down by hardships and see a solution in every problem. But there are some other people who are cowards. Their lives are shrouded with fear and they try to find an escape route for everything. They find a problem in every solution. People fail to understand that hardships are a part and parcel of life. Everyone has to face them at some time or another. Some choose to confront them and fight their way out audaciously while some choose to ignore them and hedge away from them. But shying away from problems will not make them disappear! It will only complicate them. So I believe that the best option is to battle it out and hope for the best! Even if we don’t succeed, it would be a good source of experience and we’ll know how to handle that problem next time we encounter it! And the next time that problem threatens us we can show it our fist and confidently say ‘BUZZ OFF’!! :D
We played with the cute doggies for a while and then proceeded to Rohan’s room to freshen up and play his synthesizer.
